Arrive Early for the Air Show
If you’re coming specifically for the air show, and you’re not taking a Fleet Week cruise or purchasing a premium ticket, then you’ll want to arrive at least an hour before show time if you want any chance of finding a spot to sit – at least this is the case at Fort Mason and other top viewing areas.
Spend The Day
Some come just for the air show and then realize there is much more to see and do during this San Francisco Event. Bring the family, come early, and spend the day browsing the many exhibits, checking out the artwork at the Veteran’s Art Exhibit, enjoying performances by the Marine Band and the Navy Pacific Fleet Band, taking a tour of an navy ship, and much more. Trying to get as close as possible is not the way to go. Instead, park a bit further way and enjoy a walk. When it comes time to leave, you’ll have much less traffic to fight and you won’t have to endure the long lines like those who got the “best” parking spots will. Some choose to bike to the event, but keep in mind that you might not be able to find anywhere to safely store your bike. This won’t prevent you from enjoying most Fleet Week events, but you won’t be able to bring your bike along if you want to take a ship tour.
