Visit the Bay Area Discovery Museum

You’ll have to take a trip across the Golden Gate Bridge to get to the Bay Area Discovery Museum, but that ride in itself is a joy for kids. Once at the museum, one of the most engaging in the Bay Area, little ones will enjoy indoor a plethora of indoor and outdoor experiences. This museum is perfect for kids from 6 months to 10 years old. It features the thrilling Lookout Cove, a 2.5-acre outside area filled with tide pools, shipwrecks, gravel pits and caves.

Take a Trip to the Letterman Digital and New Media Arts Center

A hidden gem of sorts among Kid-Friendly San Francisco Activities, the Letterman Digital and New Media Arts Center in the Presidio is where Star Wars fans need to go. The center is home to Lucas Film and it showcases a life-size Yoda sculpture as well as Star Wars costumes. Surrounding the Letterman Digital and New Media Arts Center, you can enjoy a picnic or exploration in a lush area that offers meadows and a lagoon.

Spend Time at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park

Situated right next to Fisherman’s Wharf at Hyde Street Pier, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park houses many historic ships including a 3-masted cargo ship. There’s also a paddle steamboat docked at this maritime park. Steps from the attraction, kids are able to run and have fun on a sandy beach that also serves as the perfect place from which to watch ships out on the San Francisco Bay.

Ascend Coit Tower

Coit Tower is a 210-foot concrete tower that was built in 1933. It sits nestled at the pinnacle of Pioneer Park, surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful homes. The top of the tower is accessible via elevator and once up at the viewing point, you’ll experience an incredible 360-degree panorama of the city. There are some amazing murals at the base of the tower and sometimes you can catch a glimpse of wild parrots who gather in the area.
